Suprises

I have been watching kingfishers on my local river and its tributaries since 1965 with only short break but nature always presents us with suprises however much we think we know we dont know everything and still have much to learn .On watching my kingfishers have noticed their are two males and one female ,last year the same situation prevailed ,they breed with success dispite losing their nest early in last years season by mink excurverating the nest. I am hopeing this doesnt happen this year as the high rainfall and flooding has created enough havok already ,what i do know is that among the young last year their was a female so was hoping things would be even (ie) two pairs breeding thrie are more than this pair but the others are quite a fair distance from these .
